A Large Meissen Porcelain Cupid Beggar Cherub Putti L Series 112 Figurine
The winged cherub putto on a raised gilt circular base is intriguing. Wearing a green pastel jacket and lavender ragged cutoff pants, he stands supported by crutches and holds his beggar's hat in one hand.
Dimension: 8 1/2", 3 3/4"
The putto is from the "L" series of Meissen. Marked on the bottom with Meissen crossed swords- incised L-112, Painter number 33.
Heinrich Schwabe (1847-1924) The sculptor Heinrich Schwabe studied in Nuremberg and was a professor between 1875 and 1907. In 1899 the Porcelain Manufactory Meissen acquired 48 models altogether from him, among busts, cupids, children, and genre figures.
