A Late Empire Mahogany Commode with Gilt Bronze Mounts, first quarter 19th century 37-1/4 x 53-1/4 x 24 inches (94.6 x 135.3 x 61.0 cm) Property from the Collection of John Robert Clark PROVENANCE: Stair Galleries, Hudson, New York, English, Continental & American, June 26, 2015, lot 815A. The rectangular marble top with canted corners above one frieze drawer and three long drawers, raised on rounded feet. The whole fitted with swan neck handles and foliate keyhole escutcheons. Condition Report: In overall good condition, especially with regard to age, displaying exquisite dual-bookmatched veneer at face panels, and strong gilding to hardware. Very minor reflections of age and light use, including tight checking to side panels, and repaired splits to lower drawer panels.
