Lot Description:

A Lime Green Silk Fan, circa 1900, with net insertions and sequins embroidered throughout, mounted on wood sticks stained dark brown, clouté with bright green and gold roundels, the guard tip inlaid with abalone (?) and painted in gold with token of love, slivers of white mother-of-pearl also inlaid at intervals to complement the mother of pearl thumb guards. The verso is plain. Together with A Fan, with black silk leaf; A Black Gauze Fan embroidered quite simply with sequins in horizontal rows, a single row also on the verso, fitted with a gilt metal loop and decoratively knotted black tassel. The wood gorge is simply pierced and also clouté; and A Black Fan painted with a young lady wearing a pink skirt and white head covering, being offered a fan perhaps by a pedlar. The wood sticks are simply pierced but then attractively overlaid with slivers of pearl in a patchwork effect in a design of flower heads and leaves. The verso is painted with a spray of cream flowers. (4)

. Generally in good used order but the final fan has damage/loss to the gorge sticks.
