checkerboard canvas design, with metal handles, lock and catches, metal reinforced edging and corners, rivetted wooden battens to lid, opening to interior with printed red-striped paper lining, the inside of lid with pinned red cotton ribbon geometric design and with ink-stamped number '119 003', the interior bearing 'Exposition Universelle Paris 1900 - Hors Concours, Expert du Jury' printed prize label for the 1, Rue Scribe/454 Strand outlets, and with interior base tray with canvas handles, exterior worn with old marks, stains and some paint spots to lid and remains of old travel labels and painted monogram 'M.S.', the interior with some old stains and tears to paper lining, measuring 76 x 44 x 53cm overall.
