Marble top has some age, but is probably of the 20th century and not original to the secretaire. It is a better quality marble and a correct color for the period of the secretaire. The case with typical age cracks, surface wear, etc. Areas of lifting, bent and missing brass inlay throughout; some small areas of veneer damage with small sections of missing veneer (see additional photos available upon request). Fall front works smoothly but does not close perfectly straight; leather writing surface is tooled but probably not original. All mounts appear original; top drawer's escutcheon mount may be a replacement since it does not align properly with the border of the drawer. No key; lower left door is locked and cannot be opened.
