A Louis XIV style inlaid cartel clock
Three-part case comprising clock, finial and bracket. All faces decorated with Boulle style marquetry in tortoiseshell and brass on oak with (heavily worn) ormolu appliques. Gilt brass dial with twelve enamel cartouches for the Roman numeral hours. At least 14-day running with a large rectangular movement on baluster-form pillars with verge escapement, thread suspension and half-hourly striking to a bell. Engraved on the plate "L. Talon A Paris". The enamel cartouches defective, the figural finial replaced and defective. H clock with finial 88, H with bracket 119 cm.
