A Louis XV-style parquetry bureau à cylindre
Late 19th century
The lady's roll-top desk with satinwood and fruitwood parquetry inlay and gilt-bronze mounts, featuring a locking roll-top revealing a fitted interior with two drawers and a pull-out writing surface of inset white leather with gilt-stamped border, above a single locking drawer and raised on cabriole legs, two with paw foot sabots
38" H x 29" W x 19" D
Condition Report: Overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, and indentations commensurate with age. More concentrated nicks and indentations to legs and edges. The top with a 2" x 1.5" cracked area of repair. The mounts with heavy rubbed wear to the gilt and mild oxidation/darkening to bronze, with one sabot loose from its mounting. Includes key. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
