A Louis XV to Louis XVI Transitional Revival Mahogany and Breche d'Alep Marble Commode with Gilt Bronze Mounts, early 19th century 36-1/4 x 51 x 22-1/2 inches (92.1 x 129.5 x 57.2 cm) Property from the Collection of John Roberts Clark The slightly breakfront Breche d'Alep marble top above conforming, case-fitted short drawers over two longer drawers, all quarter-veneered, and with inlaid ebonized banding. Condition Report: The commode in overall very good condition, displaying delicate strapwork inlay to quarter-veneered paneling. Minor reflections of age and moderate use, including small split to left side panel, and checking concentrated at eyes of woodgrain and scattered elsewhere. Evidence of previous repairs to carcass, such as reattached portion of rear panel at lower right, and adhesive residues at joints. Structurally sound.
