A Louis XVI mahogany and gilt metal mounted secretaire abattant, by M SCHMIDT & M OHNEBERG, circa 1780, the rectangular marble top with rounded front corners and moulded edge, above a single drawer and a fall front opening to an arrangement of shelves, drawers and a pigeon hole, the lower section with a pair of cupboard doors opening to a fall front drawer below a shelf, flanked by fluted pilasters, on turned tapering feet terminating in brass caps, the top twice stamped 'A M SCHMIDT' and the back stamped 'M OHNEBERG', 144cm high, 79cm wide, 36cm deep
