A Louis XV/XVI French gold mounted vernis martin and tortoiseshell snuff box, possibly Marseilles or Grasse circa 1770 Marked to the rim with an obscured markers mark and a fleur-de-lis mark possibly the discharge mark for Marseilles or Grasse. Of circular form with vernis martin banded panels. The lid with an inset plague of a gilt figure in a glazed compartment, surrounded by an ornate ribbon border. Gold mounts and tortoiseshell lining. Marked to the rim and underside. Diameter- 5.25 cm / 2.1 inches Weight - 36 grams / 1.16 ozt
