[ translate ]

A finely cast, solid bronze short sword (dirk) from the ancient Near Eastern Luristan region or Eurasian Steppe cultures. The weapon features a leaf-shaped blade with dual cutting edges and a heavily pronounced, raised central midrib for structural reinforcement. The blade terminates into a stylized petal-shaped or V-notched guard, ascending to a rectangular-sectioned hilt grip. The pommel is distinctively finished with a slender, tapering terminal that curves elegantly into a stylized hook or small volute crest. The complete weapon displays an exceptional, multi-layered archaeological patina, characterized by dense crusts of vibrant malachite green and deep cuprite red intermingled with light burial matrix. Height: 13 in. Width: 1.5 in. Provenance: Collection from Professor of University of Chicago in IL USA .

Condition
The weapon remains in overall very good antique condition, entirely intact and structurally robust without any modern fractures, breaks, or restorations. The blade line is perfectly straight, and the delicate hooked pommel is completely safe and complete. Faint edge pitting and minor blunt nicks along the blade are consistent with ancient use and centuries of burial.
