His thick hair and beard are depicted in tightly wound curls, with downward sloping almond-shaped eyes and a small mouth with lips pressed together, the head stands on a 19th century white marble and blue stone base decorated with a rosette, 9.4cm high, 18cm high inc. mount, Provenance: Jack Silver collection, England 1970; Ex Christie’s, Antiquities, New York, 5 December 2012, lot 87.
