(A) MASTER ENGRAVED & SILVER PLATED COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER INSCRIBED "E.V. EMPIRE RANCH"

Manufactured in 1897 and master engraved in the Helfricht style of engraving, with a scroll and foliate design over a punch dot background, with other geometric designs incorporated into the engraving. The inscription on the backstrap is "E.V. EMPIRE RANCH" and on the bottom of the strap is "TUCSON, A.T." The silver plating is a very old replating. There is some silver plate in some areas that are slightly pitted. The two piece carved bull's head ivory grips appear to be off of another Colt Single Action Army, as they do not fit this gun like they should if they were factory fit. The Empire Ranch is one of the biggest cattle ranches in southern Arizona. This gun comes with a lot of research papers and a book all dedicated to the history of the ranch. There is also a letter from the late Dick Burdick explaining the history and significance of this Colt. CONDITION: This gun retains some of the period silver plating. The gun shows some holster wear and light spots of pitting from use. This gun has been used and carried and shows use. The bore is frosted with a couple of spots of pitting in the lands and grooves. The ivory grips show age cracks and are turning a deep yellow color.
