A MATCHED SET OF EIGHT ELM, ASH AND BEECH DINING CHAIRS ATTRIBUTED TO THAMES VALLEY, IN THE MANNER OF SAMUEL PRIOR OF CRICKLEWOOD, FIRST HALF 19TH CENTURY To include two armchairseach approximately 92cm high, 40cm wide, 47cm deepFor a near identical example of chair stamped 'PRIOR' see, Bernard D. Cotton, The English Regional Chair, Antique Collectors' Club, 1990, page 37, plate 7. Condition Report: All with marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. Some old worm holes (see images). Both armchairs with re-tipped legs. One armchair with replacement arm. The area of the seat adjacent to where the arm attaches has an old dowel and glue repair from where it has split. One side chair with filler applied to split to top rail. All chairs structurally solid overall. Later loose cushion seat bear the expected minor wear but are in generally good order overall. One loop that secures the cushion seat to the uprights of the chair has become detached from the cushion. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
