A MONUMENTAL FRENCH SEVRES STYLE URN, H. DESPREZ, LATE 19TH CENTURY

of narrow ovoid form, two-handled, the handles formed as scrolling acanthus leaves and laurels with suspensions, the body painted with a scenes feauturing a group of cavalry officers, supported by a four-footed laurel base, the cover, neck and foot in deep blue tooled with foliate designs, with pinecone finial, signed H. DESPREZ / Sevres lower right on front, apocryphal overglaze blue factory mark under cover; overall height: 127 cm (50 in.)

CONDITION
The vase appears in overall good original condition. Overall age-appropriate crazing / craquelure to the glaze. Rubbing to the gilt on the cover. Some darkening to the mounts, with minor resulting discoloration to the surrounding porcelain. Inspection under UV light shows no apparent signs of retouching.
