The cover with a scene of two scholars holding fans in a garden landscape with tall outgrowths of bamboo and maple rising from a large garden rock to one side and with a simple cell border surround, the longer sides inlaid with flowering foliage centered by a metal lock plate on one side and two metal hinges on the other, the narrow sides inlaid with Daoist emblems and paraphernalia, the base and interiors black.
