A MUGHAL JEWELLED JADE-HILTED DAGGER (KHANJAR), INDIA, 18TH/19TH CENTURY

the double-edged straight steel blade with central watered-steel fuller carved with an arabesque at the chape containing a gilt inscription 'ya Ali', the pale green jade hilt with rounded pommel, decorated with foil-backed colourful stones mounted in gilt settings designed as foliate stems

Condition Report:
In overall good condition, the blade with few very minor spots of oxidisation, part of gilding to inscription on chape rubbed, two small mounts (foliate details) missing, some of the stones probably later replacements as evidenced by slight difference in colour, minor dirt encrustation in interstices, as viewed.
