A Magnificent Famille Rose 'Nine Peaches' Globular Bottle Vase, Tianqiuping

QIANLONG PERIOD (1735-1796)

清乾隆 粉彩九桃大天球瓶
the globular body superbly potted to close with a gentle waist before an upright columnar neck culminating in a proportioned mouth, the whole supported above a countersunk concealed foot, whereupon exquisite enamels of gnarled boughs of peach branches emerge, sprawling with outgrowth of tawny and grey bark dappled with misty blue lichens across the convexed surface, and issuing a cluster of peaches at the maximum circumference, their fleshy skin skillfully rendered with dappled hues yellow and rosey tones. Subsidiary branches produce further pink and white blossoms of varying maturity alongside furling leaves executed in turquoise and green hues, splitting to transverse the body and scale the neck with high-reaching blossoms; the underside incised in underglaze blue with a six-character Qianlong seal mark of the period.
Height 20 in., 51 cm.
Asian Art
Mouth circumference: 14 1/8 in., 38.88 cm.
Circumference of body 48 in., 121.9 cm.
With box.

Presenting in very good attractive and stable condition, examined under natural light and subject to UV radiation. Interior of the neck with very occasional pits in the glaze, alongside a light layer of dust and soiling residue, adhesive labels attached. The enamels in overall very good attractive condition: namely, the peaches and branches are immaculate and free of loss or rubbing. Only visible regions of loss to enamel are localized to some leaves and flowers, particularly those at the extremes.
