A Mandau in its finely carved wooden scabbard. The bone grip is missing its tuffs of hair, the c 53 cm long well made blade is decorated on one side with numerous tags in brass and copper. The scabbard has its original belt and side knife.
Brought to Denmark by Niels Stoltz who managed a rubber plantation by Kuta Bharu in Kelantan on Borneo 1903–1924. He served in the ”Kelantan Volunteer Rifles” and participated in several punic expeditions both on the east coast of Malaya and in Sarawak as he spoke fluent Malay and knew both the whole of the east coast and parts of Sarawak.
Condition Report:
The grip and scabbard slightly damaged. The blade spotted. The scabbard for the small knife shrunken and dry.
