A Mandau with carved bone handle without scabbard. The handle is carved with a skull and decorated with tuffs of hair, c 52 cm long well made single edged blade carved with a meander along the spine on one side.
Brought to Denmark by Niels Stoltz who managed a rubber plantation by Kuta Bharu in Kelantan on Borneo 1903–1924. He served in the ”Kelantan Volunteer Rifles” and participated in several punic expeditions both on the east coast of Malaya and in Sarawak as he spoke fluent Malay and knew both the whole of the east coast and parts of Sarawak.
Condition Report:
The grip slightly damaged. The blade dark and spotted.
