painted, in the manner of J. G. Höroldt, with figures at various pursuits, including a figure working at a muffle kiln, within recessed panels, the ridges with gilt bands, the flat cover with Böttger lustre, gilt with a flowerhead within a band of C-scrolls, crossed swords mark in blue enamel, both with gilt letter H.

Condition Report:
There is wear to the gilding at the shoulder where the cover sits. One gilt band with a flake to the gilding, as visible in the illustration. A tiny flat chip to underside of rim edge of cover.

Sotheby's Scientific Research department used noninvasive XRF for this lot to screen the green enamel for chromium, which was not detected.
