A Meissen gold-ground ecuelle and cover, circa 1735-40
Decorated with large baroque cartouches with Böttger lustre and black-edged gilt strapwork enclosing finely painted pastoral scenes of lovers in various pursuits, the cover with three cartouches of the same type, with French 18th century silver-gilt handles set over the footrim in an elaborate mount, various hallmarks visible, 15cm high, crossed swords mark in underglaze-blue (handles 18th century replacements, restored rim chip to cover)
