A Meissen porcelain column clock
Gilt metal and brass, white enamel dial with blued steel hands under domed glass cover. Small verge escapement, the plate engraved "Gervasi & Pière Savaglio". Fired in two parts and screw-mounted, with associated pierced cover. The central cuboid clock case with domed oval fillings on either side painted to imitate porphyry, with laurel festoons hung from lion mascarons at the base. Blue crossed swords mark with star and II. Restoration to the shaft, finial replaced in metal, the edge of the cover ground down. H 31.7 cm.
Model by Michel Victor Acier, around 1772, produced soon after, the clock movement presumably somewhat later.

Acquired in Lempertz Cologne auction 654 on 22nd June 1990, lot 1970, purchased without the cover.
