A Meissen porcelain cup and saucer with motifs after Michelangelo Maestri
The cup painted with a finely rendered depiction labelled "Die fünfte Stunde des Tages." (the fifth hour of the day). The saucer with "Die erste Stunde der Nacht." (the first hour of night). Monogrammed "CH" to the right beneath the depictions, blue crossed swords mark. The saucer restored. H of cup 6.4, D of saucer 13.9 cm.
Circa 1814 - 20, decor by Christian Gottlieb Hottewitzsch (1785 - 1823).
