A Meissen porcelain figure of a girl dancing, c.1755, blue crossed swords mark to back of base, Pressnummer 10, modelled in dancing pose, holding her flowered apron in her hands, wearing a puce-edged yellow jacket, on a gilt-edged rococo scroll-moulded mound base applied with flowers and foliage, 18.4cm high Provenance: Works of Art from the Schroder Collection.
The principal condition fault is that her head has been broken off and restuck at the neck, and there are associated losses at the neck (ideally, a restorer should tidy this up). There is a shallow chip to the brim of her hat (approximately 5mm. x 12mm.), and there is chipping to the fingers and thumbs of both hands (except her left little finger). The right corner of her apron has been restuck. There is some chipping to the ribbons of her bonnet, bodice sleeves and shoes – this is minor and is to be expected. There is a shallow chip to the hem of her skirt at the back of the figure (approximately 5mm. x 9mm.) – this is less noticeable due to its location. There is some minute chipping to the flowers and foliage, and there is some minute wear to the gilding – this is all very minor.
