A Meissen porcelain plate from the dinner service for Count Sulkowski
Sulkowski-Ozier model. The well decorated with the arms of alliance supported on a bracket by two lions. Blue crossed swords mark, unidentified former's mark +, incised I, blue painter's mark to the basal ring. Two restored rim chips at 10 and 11 o'clock, minor glaze wear. D 23.7 cm.
1735 - 38, model by Johann Joachim Kaendler.
The service, which Meissen began producing for Imperial Count Aleksander Józef von Sulkowski and his wife Maria Anna Franziska von Stain zu Jettingen in 1735, was one of the first extensive orders in which Johann Joachim Kaendler participated as a modeller that was not ordered directly by Augustus II. It is not known for certain how extensive the service was, but it is thought to have encompassed around 600 items in total, the majority of which were plates, chargers, and dishes.
