A Meissen porcelain teapot with two early landscape motifs

Decorated with a finely painted merchant navy scene and a European river landscape in large and especially fine gilt lace surrounds with miniature figures on brackets. The lid with corresponding decor. Blue crossed swords mark, 27. in gold (to vessel and lid). Small, restored chips to the tip of the spout. H 12.5 cm.
Around 1728 - 30, decor attributed to Johann George Heintze.

According to Rainer Rückert, Johann George Heintze, who was probably born in Dresden around 1706/07, began his training as an apprentice painter in the Meissen manufactory on June 24th 1720 and became his "first boy" after Hoeroldt's arrival. Ulrich Pietsch attributes these early, atmospheric merchant navy scenes with small figures to him.
