A Mid-18th Century Ivory Fan, the monture carved, pierced and painted in strong colours, to match the vibrancy of the leaf. The guards and centre gorge feature Chinoiserie figures, and swags of flowers. The double leaf features a ball game between two young men using small bats. A lady observes, a small boy sprawls on the grass to the side, and two men are present in the background. Outside a house to the right, a table is laid with refreshments. The verso is painted with a simple rural view. Guard length approx. 10.5 inches or 26.5cm.
