A Mottled Brownish Jade 'Fish' Carving, 95AX
This elongated jade carving is finely sculpted as a fish in profile, rendered in mottled brownish jade with subtle tonal variations across its smooth, polished surface. The fish is presented in a streamlined, naturalistic form, with an incised dorsal outline, finely detailed scale patterns along the body, defined gill lines, and a gently forked tail fin, all executed with precise linear carving. The fish motif traditionally symbolises abundance, prosperity, and good fortune in Chinese decorative art. The material displays a warm brownish hue with lighter and darker inclusions, lending the piece an aged, variegated appearance. The craftsmanship combines polished surfaces with delicate incised detailing, highlighting the elongated volume and fluid silhouette. Dimensions: 18 cm x 3.5 cm
