A Mottled Dark Green Jade 'Melon' Carving, 96FH
This pleasingly carved jade ornament is worked from mottled dark green jade, shaped as a rounded lobed melon form with distinct curved segmented ridges that radiate outward across the spherical body, creating a naturalistic fruit silhouette. The melon motif symbolises abundance, fertility and flourishing prosperity in traditional Chinese iconography. The jade displays a mottled dark green base tone interspersed with scattered pale whitish speckles and faint cloudy veining, with no prominent russet staining. The surface carries a softly worn polished finish, with volumetric carving defining each rounded lobe of the fruit. Dimensions: 3.5 cm x 3.2 cm
Condition
All lots offered are sourced from a private estate and sold "as is, where is".
