A Mottled Green, Lavender and Pale Translucent Jade ‘Mountain Landscape’ Plaque Carving, 36AE

This intricately worked plaque carving is sculpted from mottled jade displaying vibrant patches of green blended with soft lavender and translucent pale areas, shaped as an irregular rounded tablet with elaborate relief carving across the obverse depicting a classical mountain scene with cascading waterfalls, rocky outcrops, pavilions and stylised cloud formations. The landscape motif symbolises harmony with nature, tranquility and enduring prosperity within traditional Chinese iconography. The jade exhibits striking multi-tonal colour mottling, with vivid green inclusions interspersed among pale lavender and semi-translucent regions throughout the stone. The front face features finely rendered high-relief carving while the reverse is smoothly recessed and polished to a glossy, reflective surface, showcasing skilled sculpting and careful surface finishing.
