A Mottled Pale Yellow Jade 'Interlaced Dragon' Carving, 77BF
This finely worked openwork carving is fashioned from mottled pale yellow jade, formed as a rectangular plaque with elaborate interlaced dragon motifs curling in symmetrical arrangement across the composition. Paired dragon forms coil around a central circular disc element, with scrolling, fluid appendages and tightly defined curvilinear details filling the pierced voids of the plaque. The dragon motif represents power, good fortune and auspicious protection within traditional Chinese symbolic language. The jade carries warm pale yellow tones interspersed with patches of faint russet staining and subtle cloudy mottling spread across the surface. The piece exhibits smooth finishing with precise pierced carving alongside delicate incised lines tracing each decorative contour. Dimensions: 7.5 cm x 5 cm
