A Mottled Yellowish Green Jade 'Anthropomorphic Figure Dagger', Archaic Style, 91AX
This finely carved double sided jade plaque is worked from mottled yellowish green jade, modelled as a stylized dagger form topped with an anthropomorphic figure with clasped hands, incised facial details and headdress, paired with openwork scroll ornaments and geometric incised patterns along the blade. The anthropomorphic figure dagger motif symbolises spiritual protection and ritual power within ancient Chinese iconography. The jade displays a yellowish green base tone with irregular dark mottled inclusions and patches of warm russet staining throughout the stone. The surface is polished to a mellow finish, featuring pierced openwork, delicate incised linework and crisp flat carving to render the figure and decorative elements on both sides. Dimensions: 16 cm x 5 cm
Condition
