A NEAR EASTERN CARNELIAN AMULET OF A LION Circa 1st Millennium B.C. Carved from an opaque carnelian, the recumbent lioness sits with front paws forward, the details of the face, legs, haunches and paws incised, the amulet is drilled longitudinally from the tail to the chest, with a corroded wire remaining in the drill hole, 2.7cm long, Literature: For similar lion amulets see Debra Noel Adams, Emma C.
