A NORTH AFRICAN SHORTSWORD (FLYSSA), EARLY 19TH CENTURY, AN OTTOMAN SHORTSWORD (YATAGHAN) AND ANOTHER SHORTSWORD, 19TH CENTURY
the first with straight heavy blade double-edged towards the point and chiselled with a running pattern of scrollwork on the back-edge on each face, integral hilt, and a pair of wooden grips; the second with curved single-edged blade struck with an onion-shaped mark on one face, brass hilt, and a pair of horn grip-scales (small chips); the third with curved, probably European, blade double-edged towards the point and formed with a three-quarter length fuller, slender iron cross-piece and rudimentary wooden grip (chipped, worm damage), in associated leather-covered North African scabbard
the first: 66.6 cm; 26 in blade
