A Napoleon III Style Ebony Veneered Meuble d'Appui
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
the rectangular top of breakfront outline above the conforming case having a frieze mounted with an oval cartouche depicting a maiden flanked by floral swags and foliate scrolls, further fitted with a door flanked by knopped cylindrical pilasters headed by Corinthian capitals, raised on toupie feet.
Height 44 1/2 x width 32 x depth 18 inches. Continental Furniture
The marble top with a repair. Scratches, marks, minor dents and small veneer chips consistent with age. Door with light craquelure throughout its finish. Proper right column is loose and proper right block appears to have been repaired at some point near the foot. Small veneer repairs with overpainting in some areas. Door opens smoothly but there is no key. Water stains to the interior. Additional photos available upon request.
