A Near Eastern bronze butt spike
A Near Eastern bronze butt spike, c. 1000 - 600 BC, the long tapered point with square profile and the mounting shaft slightly flared at end with two rivet holes. L: 11 3/8 in (28.8 cm). nicely patinated. Spikes such as this were often used on the base of a spear, opposite the spear tip. Ex Los Angeles private collection.
