"A New Map of the World According to the New Observations", Moll, Herman
Subject: World
Period: 1730 (circa)
Color: Black & White
Size: 7.1 x 11
A nice double hemisphere map showing California as an Island. In North America, both Baron Lahontan's fictitious R. Longue and a Str. of Annian indicate the possibility of a Northwest Passage. Northwestern North America and northeast Asia are left blank and unmapped. Above Japan, a partial coastline of the Land of Iesso is depicted. Australia's northern coast suggests a connection to New Guinea, and the coastlines for Tasmania and New Zealand are incomplete. Above the hemispheres is a north polar projection.
References: cf. Shirley (BL Atlases) T.MOLL-2a #1.
Condition: B+
A crisp impression with faint scattered foxing and a couple of soft creases.
