A North Indian Powder-Flask, A Modern Indian All-Metal Priming-Flask, And Two Algerian Toe-Lock Mechanisms For Longarms
Mostly 19th Century
The first with curved wooden body of flattened ovoidal section with tapering nozzle, inlaid along each side with mother-of-pearl florets within carved borders, the nozzle carved with a stylised duck's head above, a horn strap beneath forming a spring cut-off lever, and with iron ring for suspension; the second of curved tapering form with gilt stylised tiger-head terminal, decorated overall with gold-damascened foliage including a calligraphic cartouche on both sides, and gilt sprung tap and suspension loop; the last each of characteristic form, the first decorated overall with silver panels chased with foliage and set with three small red coral beads (corallium rubrum), the second decorated overall with brass panels chased with foliage, and each signed in Arabic on the lower edge (4)
