A Northern European carved walnut chest or coffer, late 16th/early 17th century, with lancet carved front, 55cm high, 178cm wide, 61cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use,Chips and losses to timber, also some gouging, near where the strap comes through for the lock especially, there are sections of timber missing to the lower edge Old cracks and splits especially to the front and the sides, some inset timber to the corners,Lockplate and strap possibly original, the lock no longer functioning and there are no Keys, the lock remains open even with the strap inserted, hinges probably original, they are securely embedded in the timber topThe interior with candlebox, the interior with surface dirt and discolouration, would benefit from a clean prior to use in a domestic setting, Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition Condition Report Disclaimer
