(A) PAIR OF ALL STEEL LONDON MARKED DOUBLE BARREL

[ translate ]

Pair of all steel pistols with twist off barrels with straight rifling, patent breeches, and marked "LONDON" behind each barrel. Boxlock actions with swan neck cocks and engraved with a simplistic stand of arms. Double triggers are protected by a sliding trigger guard (function unclear, not a safety) engraved with a stand of arms en suite with action. Flared butts engraved with stands en suite with balance of pistols. CONDITION: Good, pistols have been cleaned in the typical European style with some spotted oxidation on both pistols, softened engraving, and old oxidation visible. Cocks and triggers both work appropriately on each pistol, although pistol (A) is somewhat softer in operation and right cock does not sit all the way back, but disengages appropriately; cock screw on (A) replaced, left barrel. All four bores are good with visible rifling and some soft oxidation. Metal has some pings and strikes, action fit is not as tight as it should be with visible gaps. Despite being marked for manufactured in London, the overall quality of these pistols is more suggestive of a Belgian origin. EMW Barrel Length: (Both) 1 - 3/8" Caliber/Bore: (Both) .40 Rifled FFL Status: Antique Manufacturer: (BOTH) Marked London, probably Belgian Model: (BOTH) Flintlock Serial Number: (Both) NSN
