A PAIR OF DERBY BOCAGE CANDLESTICK FIGURES ALLEGORICAL OF 'LIBERTY' AND 'MATRIMONY', CIRCA 1770-75

each modeled as a shepherd or shepherdess seated and leaning against the balustrade of a low wall before a flowering bocage between two foliate-molded candle nozzles, 'Liberty' with a dove perched on his knee and a dog seated at his feet, 'Matrimony', with a recumbent sheep and holding a birdcage.
heights 12 in. and 10 ½ in.

Condition Report:
The female figure
overall good appearance. Spray to both figure's hands, leaves below sheep. Minor typical scattered chipping to leaves, the edges of some color filled. Her headdress lacking a feather with old discolored paint along edge.
Male figure, with some glaze crazing, both hands restored. Similar chipping to leaves which have been touched up with green enamel.
