A PAIR OF GILT-COPPER-MOUNTED CHAMPLEVE AND CLOISONNE ENAMEL LANTERN STANDS
18th century
With a central gu-shaped stem inlaid in champleve enamel with hibiscus, scrolls and plantain leaf lappets dividing a champleve key-pattern galleried square top above and another below, all on a cloisonne enamel cushion-shaped base decorated with formalized floral scrolling and with short feet.
8 1/16in (20.4cm) high; 5 1/2in (13.9cm) square (2).

These beautiful enamel and gilt copper stands would have almost certainly supported framed glass lanterns, as evidenced by near identical stands on a pair of lanterns sold at Christie's New York, 24 March 2011, lot 617 and another pair sold at Christie's New York, 20 September 2005, lot 114.
