A PAIR OF JAPANESE GILT BRONZE LIDDED VASES, MEIJI PERIOD, XIX CENTURY
a pair of two-handled lidded Japanese vases adorned from top to bottom and all around with beautifully crafted nature scenes; the vases are detachable, and each consists of the main body on a narrow foot, the base formed a rock and a lid with a top crowned by a finely sculpted forest-covered mountain cliffs, stamped with a gilt signature mark on the body of the vase; height: 68 cm (26 3/4 in.)
Condition Report: CONDITIONThe vases are in good, age-appropriate condition, the bases and the lids detach, the main vessel on one of the vases is detached from the base and needs to be reglued, and some overall scratches and minor indents, consistent with age and use, minuscule hole to the base of one of the vases, several small holes to the main body of the other vase.N.B. All lots are sold in as-is condition at the time of sale.
