A PAIR OF LOUIS XV SIDE CHAIRS BY PIERRE FALCONET CIRCA 1750-1760 With caned backs and seats, painted in distressed grey and dark leather squab shaped squab cushions, each stamped to back rail 87cm high, 47cm wide The same "FALCONET" stamp was used by two Paris menuisiers in the 18th century: Pierre Falconet (b. 1683) and his son Louis Falconet (master 1743, d. ca. 1775). From the style of these chairs they are almost certainly made by the son. Condition Report: Signs of wear. Apparently inactive woodworm in both chairs. Condition Report Disclaimer
