A PAIR OF MEISSEN FIVE-LIGHT CANDELABRA, LATE 19TH CENTURY, each on a shaped square pedestal with winged cherubs and two coats-of-arms surmounted by a seated female figure holding two branches with four lights surrounding a central light, the seated figure, turned slightly to the left, wears a classical shift with floral decoration, a purple cloak with gold stars and blue laced sandals, the underside with blue crossed swords and cancellation marks, incised no 99. (2)

59cm high x 43cm wide x 26cm deep

Provenance: From a collection of furniture and antiques left to the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB ) in 1939 by Evelyn Stannus of Kensington. Items in the collection are believed to have come from Ireland. Since 1939 many objects from the collection have been on loan to the National Trust and this item has been displayed at Lyme Park.

Provenance: Formerly lot 121 Christies Interiors – Style and Spirit sale auction number 5995 23rd November 2010
