A PAIR OF RUSSIAN ICONS, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising an icon of the Three Hierarchs beneath an image of the Holy Visage painted on the upper margin. The borders with two guardian angels, the Holy Martyr Aquilina and the Priest Martyr Basil. 12 inches x 10.25 inches (31 x 26 cm). Together with an icon of selected saints, the upper margin finely painted with The Diesis image (Christ at center flanked by the Mother of God (left) and John the Forerunner (Right)), and below a gather of six saints each rendered in full length image, from left to right they are Nadezhda, Saint Paul the Apostle, the Apostle Peter, Saint Nicholas, and Saints Flarus and Larus. Finely painted and in a good state of original untouched preservation. 12.25 inches x10.25 inches (31 x 26 cm).
