Well-modelled in mirror images, the female lion with her right paw raised playing with a lion cub, the male lion with his left paw on a brocade ball, each lion with applied rolls of hair and pull-out eyeballs painted in green, ochre and black, the stepped rectangular pedestal painted with blossoming veins over lush foliate ground, a pair of ruyi-shaped openings on the sides, the underside and interior unglazed showing the buff biscuit body.
