A PAIR OF SILVER COVERED RUSSIAN ICONS, 19TH CENTURY. Comprising an icon of the O All-Hymned Mother of God (O VSEPYETAYA MATI), finely painted and overlaid with a repoussé and chased gilded silver oklad hallmarked Moscow dated 1848, with indistinguishable maker's mark and 84 silver standard. 4 inches x 3.5 inches (10 x 9 cm). Together with a finely painted icon depicting on the left the Metropolitan Saint Photius and on the right the Metropolitan Saint Cyprian, each finely painted and above them Christ delivers a blessing. The icon overlaid with a silver repoussé and chased oklad hallmarked St. Petersburg, dated 1835, Cyrillic maker's mark AI for Andre Ignatiev, and with 84 silver standard. 3.75 inches x 2.8 inches (9.5 x 7.5 cm).
