A PANEL OF FOUR QAJAR CUERDA SECA POTTERY TILES Possibly Tehran, Qajar Iran, 19th century Each pottery tile of square shape, painted in yellow, pink, green, cobalt blue, ochre brown and outlined in manganese black on a white ground, the panel presenting a recurrent Qajar subject with a central vase overflowing with a lush floral bouquet including large rosettes, blue daisies, two-tone sprigs, and foliage, flanked by a pair of regardant birds at the base, framed within an elaborate cusped cartouche surrounded by yellow and black split palmette trellis against a deep cobalt blue ground, and black and yellow rules around the outer edges, each tile 25cm x 25cm, the four tiles 70cm at widest points.Click here to share:
